Billing FAQ's
What forms of payment do you take?
We accept check, credit cards, and Apple Pay. Unfortunately, we no longer accept cash payments.

Will I be billed for a well visit?
Most insurers do not require a copay for an annual exam. However, in some instances during a well visit or routine physical, our clinicians may need to give more attention to a chronic condition, treat a new illness, or address an injury. Insurers view this additional time as a separately billable service. You may be charged a co-pay or deductible when billing for a separate medical problem occurs during a routine checkup. Whether you are charged a co-pay or deductible depends on the medical insurance plan you have and is determined by your insurance company, not by our office.

Will I be billed for a phone call or MyChart message?
Phone calls and MyChart responses that require your provider's clinical time and expertise may be billed to your insurance, depending on time spent, level of medical complexity, and liability concerns. This includes after-hours calls and messages. There may be a co-pay or coinsurance based on your insurance company's guidelines. Contacting us in this way is considered an agreement to these conditions.

How are lactation visits billed?
APA offers lactation services from our nurse practitioner, Meg Guimond. As both a pediatric nurse practitioner and an international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC), Meg is able to serve both the medical and lactation needs of your baby. By providing lactation and primary care, your baby will receive coordinated medical and lactation care during the same visit. Meg is also able to communicate her recommendations directly to your primary care physician to help provide coordinated care.
Most lactation consultants offer their services on a cash-only basis. You pay out of pocket and you are given a receipt to submit to medical insurance. Here at APA, however, we bill these services to your baby’s medical insurance. Because our lactation visits are part of your baby’s medical care, we bill these as a routine “office visit,” just like our practice bills for other pediatric problems. This visit may have a copay and may be subject to your baby’s deductible or coinsurance.
The mother’s personal lactation benefits will not be billed by ArlingtonPediatric Associates as we are pediatric providers.
